SPRING BREAK CAMPS

Filmmaking &
Film Acting

A one week intensive spring break camp for students interested in filmmaking or acting to collaborate on a short film. Students can participate either as: Filmmakers (directing, filming and editing) or as Actors (creating the script, rehearsing and acting on camera).
Every student receives a DVD of the short films made during the week.

Filmmaking

Filmmaking students work in small supervised groups to develop a finished project from pre-production, through production and post-production.

They learn:

  • The basic elements of storytelling and film terminology by breaking a popular movie down into acts, scenes, and shots.
  • Concepts of cross cutting, sound effects and underscoring.
  • To use state-of-the-art filmmaking equipment, including Cannon ZR65 and Panasonic 24p digital cameras, Lowel and Arri lighting gear, Sennheiser sound equipment, and Final Cut Pro 4.0 editing software.

Film Acting

CLASS FULL
Acting students learn how to gauge their performance for the camera.

They learn:

  • How to create commercials, news and quiz shows and dialogues from soaps and sitcoms.
  • To improvise characters and build a short script under the direction of an experienced teacher.
  • How to collaborate, select locations, decide on specific shots, costumes and other scenic elements.

Dance 5X5

A one week dance camp offering students the opportunity to experience five dance styles in five days! Styles include ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern. Each day students will concentrate on one technical style (from studio work to watching the best in dance history on video). The camp will culminate in a showcase for parents the last day of camp.
