CIT: Counselor
in Training
Imagination Stage’s CIT Program is a training program for high school students interested in transitioning from camper to leader. This skill building program is of particular interest to students exploring a career in education, theatre or arts management. It is certainly the best training ground for students interested in becoming a camp counselor at Imagination Stage during their college years.
CITs are guided and supervised by the Camp Managers of our Arts Express and Summer Theatre Campus 4-week production camps. CITs serve as classroom, rehearsal and administrative assistants, helping with the daily operations and working side-by-side with the directors, choreographers, college counselors and campers, learning classroom management skills, child development, motivational techniques and theatre production skills. CITs will improve organizational skills, increase self-confidence, learn about working collaboratively, develop a strong work ethic, network with like-minded students and professionals and build their resumes. CITs can earn valuable community service hours required by Montgomery County Public Schools and many private schools. Students will need to provide the camp manager with the appropriate paperwork from school to document hours worked.
