Acting
This skill-based class is designed to build on the work done by young actors in the Create a Story and Create a Character classes. Students continue to develop their understanding of characters and relationships on stage, working with text in a more in-depth way. This class is recommended for students interested in the Acting Conservatory.

Acting: Improvisation
A favorite for the sharp of wit and tongue! Students improvise, create zany characters and throw themselves into all sorts of scenarios, the wackier the better.

Actors Who Sing
Students continue to explore vocal technique and acting skills through character-driven songs and scenes drawn from popular Broadway musicals. This class offers students the chance to build their technique by working with text and music in an in-depth manner.

Scene into Song
This skill-based class is for returning Imagination Stage students. Students develop their understanding of characters and relationships both in scene and song work. Students continue to expand both their music training and vocal technique as they begin to explore how to apply skills to the interpretation of text and music as an actor. Recommended for students who have taken Actors Who Sing.

Broadway Song and Dance
Students learn jazz techniques together with age-appropriate vocal skills in this fun foray into the world of Broadway-Style musical theatre.

Dance Gymnastics
The ideal class for lovers of dance and gymnastics! Students learn elementary jazz and gymnastics skills such as tumbling, flips and cartwheels while building flexibility and strength.

Hip Hop
This high energy class is a fun workout for all students who like to move! Students learn age-appropriate hip hop steps including isolation and floor work and breakdancing moves.

Musical Theatre Dance Prep
Designed for students who wish to improve their musical theatre dance technique, this class covers jazz and tap technique and develops students’ performance skills.

Dance Conservatory Prep
Grades 4-5
This dance technique class provides students with the tools necessary to audition for the Dance Conservatory. Students learn dance techniques and vocabulary used in a range of styles including ballet, jazz, and modern.

FILMMAKING CLASSES

Like all artistic disciplines at Imagination Stage, the Filmmaking Program is process oriented. These unique classes begin with fundamentals in introductory courses and progress through advanced studies and sophisticated projects using state-of-the-art equipment. Students are encouraged to be creative and to find their own artistic voice in a collaborative and non-competitive environment.

Create a Film Together
GRADES 2-5 with a parent/caregiver
Parent and child team up to learn the basics of film production and video technology while creating a short documentary on a subject of their choosing (e.g. “Our Family” “My Dog” “Our Solar System” etc.). The team develops the concept, shoots and edits the video ready for a family screening. All you need to bring is the popcorn! Class size is limited to 6 student/parent pairs. Teams must be prepared to work extensively outside of class.

Introduction to Filmmaking
Students learn the craft of narrative filmmaking and how to express their ideas cinematically. This introductory course covers pre-production, production, and post-production. The class works on editing exercises and in the spring semester, students return to produces a short film from design to completion. Tuition is per semester.
