The national smash-hit musical will receive a sparkling new production where it began--at Imagination Stage! In this fun-filled musical, the precocious kindergartner is already worried about who will be “number one” when Mom’s new baby comes. But then things get even worse: “Mrs.” assigns “show & tell” and Junie B. can’t help shooting off her big mouth about how hers is going to be “the bestest” in the whole class! Luckily Grandpa Miller and a kindly Principal help poor Junie B. out of a real pickle with lots of love and laughs and gentle lessons along the way. Ages 4 and up.

Junebug
And The Reverend is a gentle drama of unlikely friendships and the triumph of
spirit over real-life obstacles. In the play, nine year-old
Junebug lives with his mother and little sister, is adjusting
to his new home in the retirement community where his mom has
a new job. He finds himself navigating the challenges of a
new school—and some bullying classmates—and the
on-going emotional search for a male role model. With the help
of several caring adults, and the surprising friendship of
a grumpy retired Reverend, Junebug finds himself sailing on
calmer waters. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

THE NEW KID
APR 28 - JUN 3, 2007
Sign Interpreted performance May 20, 2007 3:30 PM
By Dennis Foon
Director
Eric Ruffin
"On the outside looking in -- we're all there sometime."
- Janet Stanford, Artistic Director
A modern classic about the immigrant experience, this play was first devised in Canada in the 80’s from the real-life stories of children settling in Vancouver. Now adapted for our own increasingly diverse community here in the DC metro area, The New Kid tells about a boy called Nick who comes from Homeland. The playwright puts the audience into Nick’s shoes by having the American kids speak in gibberish and forcing us to learn a strange language and customs along with Nick. Told with humor and bold movement, this unforgettable play challenges everyone to empathize with newcomers to our community and to welcome the new perspectives they bring. Ages 6 and up.
