Dance Instructors/Choreographers

Imagination Stage is currently recruiting experienced dance instructors/choreographers for its classes onsite and for satellite programming in DC, MD and Northern VA for ages 5-18. Dance Theatre at Imagination Stage offers classes for students of all abilities, meeting the needs of dancers at every stage of their development. Through proper instruction in technical and performance skills dancers will apply critical and creative thinking to understand dance as a way to create and communicate meaning. We are seeking teachers to instruct classes in Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre Dance, Modern, or Hip Hop dance. Choreographers are also needed for Musical Theatre camps and productions. Requirements: Minimum BA in Dance, Dance Education, or Theatre Education. Preferred experience with elementary, middle or high school students. Hours: Weekday and weekend positions available. Part-time employment. Pay rate commensurate with experience.

Music Directors/Teachers

Imagination Stage is currently recruiting experienced singing teachers/music directors for its classes onsite and for satellite programming in DC, MD and Northern VA for ages 6-18. Looking for teachers who can accompany a class or production on piano in selections of musical theatre and instruct their understanding of musical theatre concepts and musicianship skills including melody, rhythm, and ear training. Audition accompanists are also wanted! Minimum BA in Music, Vocal Production, Theatre or Theatre Education. Preferred experience with elementary aged students. Hours: Both weekday and weekend positions available. Part-time employment. Pay rate commensurate with experience.

Early Childhood Teachers

Imagination Stage is currently recruiting experienced early childhood teachers for its pre-school programming, for children ages 1-5. Applicants should demonstrate a vested interest in young children (ages 1-5) and the arts. We will provide on-site training to familiarize successful applicants with our teaching philosophy and methods. Weekday and weekend positions available. This is a year-long commitment.

Responsibilities:

• Working from a provided template and support materials, including age-appropriate developmental goals, create lesson plans for each week
• Implement lesson plans, incorporating various teaching aids and props to create a multi-sensory experience
• When appropriate, generate classroom assessments, tracking individual progress

• Communicate with parents, caregivers and Imagination Stage staff to coordinate open classroom sessions, make-up classes, etc.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years teaching experience required (with age 1-5 population)
• Degree in Early Childhood Education; Early Elementary Education or Theatre Education Prefered.
