The Danny Park High School Internship Program
This Internship has been filled we will be accepting applications for next year beginning in January 2010.
The internship program is modeled after our apprentice program and provides an outstanding high school student with a wide variety of opportunities throughout the organization. The program is created around a set schedule chosen by the student and averages 15 hours a week. The intern is given the chance to see how a professional children's theatre is run.
The opportunities created for the high school intern may include but are not limited to...
- Assisting in the scene shop and costume shop
- Assisting in electrics and prop maintenance
- Administrative support in the Development, Education, and Marketing Departments
- Assisting in classes
- Observing professional rehearsals and auditions
- Attending department meetings
- Assisting in auditions for the professional theatre
- Assisting in the Just Imagine Gift Shop
- Assisting in the box office and reception desk
- Interested students should be 15-18 years of age and should have a strong interest in the possibility of making theatre a life long profession. A pro-active spirit, passion for excellence, and a great sense of humor is strongly desired.

Development Intern
Approximately 10-12 hours per week. 3-4 month commitment preferred.
Unpaid
Imagination Stage development interns serve as a member of the development team and are involved in all aspects of development, including planning development strategies, prospect research, proposal writing, and database management. Additional duties include administrative support for the development department, as needed. Interns may also assist with special events, including Opening Nights and the Annual Gala and Silent Auction.
Specific Duties Include:
- Prepare gift acknowledgement letters (48 hour turnaround)
- Prospect research for corporate, foundation and individual donors
- Draft letters of inquiry and/or proposals, as assigned
- Assist with tracking contributed income revenue from corporate, foundation, individual and public sources
- Maintain a list of prospects and schedule meetings, as assigned
- Database management, including gift entry, report generation, constituent updates
- General administrative support, as needed
General Skills Required
- Interest/background in theatre and/or the performing arts
- Excellent organization, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task, take initiative, and work independently
- Computer literate (Microsoft and internet applications)

Education Summer Intern-CLOSED
Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Education
The Education Summer Intern works closely with the Director of Education, Director of Faculty, and Education Coordinator to cover a variety of administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient and smooth running of Education Dept. programs. Candidates should possess strong organizational and computer skills. Candidates must also be willing to have a flexible work schedule.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Working with Camp Managers to file and ensure receipt of camper medical forms
- Working with Director of Faculty to prepare for, and participate in, professional development workshops for teaching staff and adjunct faculty
- Working with Production and Facilities Associate to ensure that building checks are scheduled and all necessary art and first aid supplies are in place in classrooms/studios
- Working with Education Coordinator to assure smooth administration of faculty paperwork
- Working with Registrar to generate class contact and attendance lists
- Working with Registrar to update and process student registrations
- Coordinating usage and maintenance of the Student Greenroom and Props Closet
- Assuming Teaching or Assistant Teaching responsibilities as deemed appropriate

Marketing Intern
Approximately 5-10 hours per week. 3-4 month commitment preferred.
Unpaid
A Marketing Internship at Imagination Stage gives you training and first hand experience in all aspects of communication: brand management, web & email marketing, direct marketing, special event promotion, etc. The unique people and culture of our kids-focused company set us apart from all others.
Internships typically run concurrent with the semester: Fall (September to December), Spring (January to May) and Summer (june to August). Imagination Stage does offer some flexibilty in terms of start and end dates and flexibilty with respect to time.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, we recommend applying at least 6 weeks prior to the desired semester for interning. An interview, preferably in person, is required.
Applicants should supply:
- A resume that includes both theatre and business experience
- Two references
- Cover letter that supplies dates of availability and desired areas of learning (social marketing, press relations, events, graphic design, web design, etc)
