Musical Theatre Camp
Enrollment for Summer 2012 begins January 2!
An exciting musical theatre production camp, located at the beautiful Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School (Upper School Campus) in Rockville. The program is designed for new and returning students, who are entering grades 5-8 in September, 2012. The focus of this camp is to train young actors in their understanding of the actor's process in musical theatre, from auditions to the creation of believable and sustainable characters to performance. Campers work on their acting, vocal and dance technique skills in fun, skill-building workshops. Specialty workshops include Visual Theatre, Improvisation, Stage Combat and Stage Makeup.
Part of each day is spent in rehearsal where students are given the opportunity to apply their skills to the production of a well-known piece of theatre. Auditions for the productions are held during the first two days of camp. This comprehensive musical theatre experience culminates in a public performance for family and friends during the final week of camp.
